Publisher's Summary
Rosamunde Pilcher's major best seller, also a successful TV film, now available in unabridged audio download.
As spring comes to Scotland and the hills burst into life, a dance is planned for September. The invitations summon home the group of people Violet Aird has cared for most in her long life. The oldest, strongest and wisest of them all, she sees Alexa, her vulnerable granddaughter, find love for the first time while the decision to send her little grandson away to school is driving parents Edmund and Virginia even further apart.
Far from them all is Pandora, the glamorous, exciting girl who ran away 20 years before. All will converge on Scotland this September, bringing their stories with them.

Great story terrible narration
I had read this story years ago and enjoyed listening to it but if I had been listening to it for the first time I don't think I could have coped with the narration of some of the male voices ( Noel and Henry for instance) .

A good listen
A nice, evocative book that I've read before in hard copy. I've also listened to Jilly Bond reading Winter Solstice. She reads really cosily, in a style that suits Rosamunde Pilcher's books very well, and does the voices convincingly. The only one she has trouble with is the Australian accent, but I know as an Aussie that it's a hard accent to imitate! All up, a good, restful read.

Pilcher never disappoints
I have read and reread many of Pilcher’s books and that are wonderfully crafted stories that tell of believable life experiences.
Her detail of life in Scotland and the characters makes September an engrossing read.

This was a lovely story. Very well read and it actually transported me to Scotland and all that beautiful country offers. Felt I was standing alongside, with each character as the story unfolded.
