Publisher's Summary

A thousand worlds have opened, and the greatest land rush in human history has begun. As wave after wave of colonists leave, the power structures of the old solar system begin to buckle.

Ships are disappearing without a trace. Private armies are being secretly formed. The sole remaining protomolecule sample is stolen. Terrorist attacks previously considered impossible bring the inner planets to their knees.

The sins of the past are returning to exact a terrible price. And as a new human order is struggling to be born in blood and fire, James Holden and the crew of the Rocinante must struggle to survive and get back to the only home they have left.

Awesome Amos

Amos Burton is one of the most interesting characters you'll hear. His dialogue, as read by Jefferson Mays is quality listening!

I love this series

I'm a huge fan of the expanse series and have enjoyed all iterations; books, TV series, and audio books.
please note that while the rating for the performance may seem harsh after listening to several books narrated by Rupert Degas I just couldn't put this performance at the same level despite being good (sorry Jefferson Mays).

A backstory book to flesh out the Crew of the Rosey, prrsumably so you'll be devastated if they die in the next book...

Seems like a backward step

This story feels like one of those episodes in sitcoms where all the characters reminisce about their pasts and have a newfound appreciation for each other.

The last book was set on an alien planet which was super intriguing; and ended with all the colony ships heading out to explore all the new alien worlds. Such a wealth of possibilities!

But this story is focussed on the events immediately afterwards on earth. Seems like a bit of a filler to pad the series out but I guess I’ll find out when I read the next book.

Another amazing ride...

I wasn’t sure where it was taking me this time but I liked it! As unreal as the events are I still find myself gunning for these awesome characters and was so glad they made it through again. The narrator, as always, brings it together beautifully. Better than a watching a movie, I savour every listening moment to escape into the “expanse”...
