Story
The peaceful life of a village in Wiltshire is suddenly shattered by a disaster which strikes without reason or explanation, leaving behind it a trail of misery and horror. A yawning, bottomless crack spreads through the earth, out of which creeps a fog that resembles no other. Whatever it is, it must be controlled; for wherever it goes it leaves behind a trail of disaster as hideous as the tragedy that marked its entry into the world. The fog, quite simple, drives people insane.

Demonstrating once again her gift for spellbinding storytelling, Anne Rice makes real for us a great dynasty of four centuries of witches - a family given to poetry and incest, murder and philosophy, a family that over the ages is itself haunted by a powerful, dangerous, and seductive being called Lasher who haunts the Mayfair women. Moving in time from today's New Orleans and San Francisco to long-ago Amsterdam and the France of Louis XIV, from the coffee plantations of Port-au-Prince to Civil War New Orleans and back to today, Anne Rice has spun a mesmerizing tale.

Story
Once every year, Scoutmaster Tim Riggs leads a troop of boys into the Canadian wilderness for a weekend camping trip - a tradition as comforting and reliable as a good ghost story around a roaring bonfre. The boys are a tight-knit crew. There’s Kent, one of the most popular kids in school; Ephraim and Max, also well-liked and easygoing; then there’s Newt the nerd and Shelley the odd duck. For the most part, they all get along and are happy to be there - which makes Scoutmaster Tim’s job a little easier.

What a fantastic listen. A captivating listen for any fan of story-driven horror, this tale of cold war era psychic espionage has an interesting take on vampire lore that leaves me excited for the next instalment. Also, the narrator did an excellent job of the various accents.

the necroscope series is brilliant, I enjoyed the audio performance greatly. while it may not be everyone's cup of tea, necroscope's grim dark presentation of what vampires would be is refreshing with were pop culture has taken them in recent years

Admiration of a fantastic well planned, thought out & executed novel
The mind of Brian lumly is unparalleled, if people hope for a better novel (sequel) on a vampire fantasy written with extremely well thought out, brainstormed & plausible logic their mistaken. Because this reality of vampires & esp subjects could have been transformed into literature by someone else but Brian Lumly did it first!
