Story
As a young girl growing up in a strict ultra-Orthodox family, Dassi's life was preordained - marry young, live a devout life and raise children within the Adass community's religious rules. This righteous path would keep her safe from the immodest, secular world just a few blocks away in suburban Melbourne. But the Adass community was not safe for Dassi. She was fifteen when her revered school principal, Malka Leifer, started to single her out. Dassi's cloistered and harsh upbringing meant she didn't have the words for what was happening to her, but she knew it was very, very wrong.

Story
Through roles in cherished films such as Mrs. Doubtfire, Jumanji, Aladdin and Hook, he became the genial face of family comedy. His childlike enthusiasm was infectious, sweeping viewers away. Allied to his lightning-quick improvisation and ability to riff lewdly off any cue thrown at him, Robin was that rare thing - a true comic genius who appealed to adults and children equally. He could also play it straight, and empathetic depth came to him naturally.

Story
People ask me how come I'm still alive, and I don't know what to say. When I was growing up, if you'd have put me up against a wall with the other kids from my street and asked me which one of us was gonna make it to the age of 60, with five kids and four grandkids and houses in Buckinghamshire and California, I wouldn't have put money on me, no f--king way. But here I am: ready to tell my story, in my own words, for the first time. A lot of it ain't gonna be pretty. I've done some bad things in my time. But I ain't the devil.

Publisher's Summary
In his first and only official autobiography, music icon Elton John reveals the truth about his extraordinary life, which is also the subject of the smash-hit film Rocketman. The result is Me - the joyously funny, honest and moving story of the most enduringly successful singer/songwriter of all time.
Read by actor and star of Rocketman, Taron Egerton, with an introduction and epilogue read by Elton John.
Christened Reginald Dwight, he was a shy boy with Buddy Holly glasses who grew up in the London suburb of Pinner and dreamed of becoming a pop star. By the age of 23, he was performing his first gig in America, facing an astonished audience in his bright yellow dungarees, a star-spangled T-shirt and boots with wings. Elton John had arrived and the music world would never be the same again.
His life has been full of drama, from the early rejection of his work with songwriting partner Bernie Taupin to spinning out of control as a chart-topping superstar; from half-heartedly trying to drown himself in his LA swimming pool to disco-dancing with the queen; from friendships with John Lennon, Freddie Mercury and George Michael to setting up his AIDS Foundation. All the while, Elton was hiding a drug addiction that would grip him for more than a decade.
In Me Elton also writes powerfully about getting clean and changing his life, about finding love with David Furnish and becoming a father. In a voice that is warm, humble and open, this is Elton on his music and his relationships, his passions and his mistakes. This is a story that will stay with you, by a living legend.
Critic Reviews
"Self-deprecating, funny.... You cannot help but enjoy his company throughout, temper tantrums and all." (The Times)
"Chatty, gossipy, amusing and at times brutally candid." (Telegraph)

Fascinating and so honest
This book is so wonderful. Elton John wrote a book which is honest, revealing and at times very vulnerable. I could not stop listening. Hearing Taron narrating made the experience of listening to it pure bliss. Dramatic and somber in the right places. Taron was hilarious imitating the accents of all the different characters. The whole thing was just irresistible.
Thank you Elton for your music and this wonderful book. And thank you Taron sharing for all your amazing gifts.
I highly recommend this audiobook.

So sad to finish this book...
I saw Elton John in Perth, WA in 1983. He played Crocodile Rock laying on the floor with a large bowl of fruit on his head. From that moment on I have been in awe of this man. I have never been so spellbound by an autobiography before...the rawness, the sadness, the humour, the honesty, the passion for Life...everything features in this book. There were a couple of lines where I just wanted to pick up the phone to Elton to say ‘I’m sorry this happened to you & I’m sure your Mother didn’t mean it’ but sadly I couldn’t. That’s how real this journey felt. I am delighted after all these years he has a beautiful family to Love & be Loved by. I feel enormously privileged to have had the opportunity to listen to Eltons story & I look forward to what comes next 🤩 Fantastic book 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Entertaining! Just like Elton
This is a great one! Entertaining narration and a wonderful book overall. These have certainly come a long way since the days of monotone narration and tape audiobooks. The narration is top notch, expressive and sometimes humourous. HIGHLY recommend this, a must listen.
