Here in a single volume is the entire, unabridged recording of Gibbon's masterpiece. Beginning in the second century A.D. at the apex of the Pax Romana, Gibbon traces the arc of decline and complete destruction through the centuries across Europe and the Mediterranean. It is a thrilling and cautionary tale of splendor and ruin, of faith and hubris, and of civilization and barbarism. Follow along as Christianity overcomes paganism... before itself coming under intense pressure from Islam.

One of my all time favorite books.
- By Nathan Bell on 27-12-2018
Publisher's Summary
Generations of people - young and old, male and female - have fallen in love with the March sisters of Louisa May Alcott's most popular and enduring novel, Little Women. Talented tomboy and author-to-be Jo, tragically frail Beth, beautiful Meg, and romantic, spoiled Amy remain united in their devotion to each other and their struggles to survive in New England during the Civil War.
It is no secret that Alcott based Little Women on her own early life. While her father, the free-thinking reformer and abolitionist Bronson Alcott, hobnobbed with such eminent male authors as Emerson, Thoreau, and Hawthorne, Louisa supported herself and her sisters with "woman’s work," including sewing, doing laundry, and acting as a domestic servant. But she soon discovered she could make more money writing. Little Women brought her lasting fame and fortune, and far from being the "girl’s book" her publisher requested, it explores such timeless themes as love and death, war and peace, the conflict between personal ambition and family responsibilities, and the clash of cultures between Europe and America.

Genius Burns
If you could sum up Little Women in three words, what would they be?
Hansom,sisterly ,poetry .
What other book might you compare Little Women to, and why?
Maybe Pride and Prejudice ,given it's a book based on sisters with there trials and tribulations.
What does Justine Eyre bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
It's one of those voices you are either going to love or hate ,I must admit I had to get used to it ,but I did quite quickly and now I love it and couldn't imagine it being anybody else.
It suite the period very well.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I was quite happy to listen to a couple a of chapters before going to sleep, but that's just me .
Any additional comments?
I thought I knew this story because I watched the movies ,but I didn't have a clue how in dept and wonderful it truly was ,Jo will always be the tomboy queen and she will always have a place in my heart and in my library .
