Publisher's Summary
The book that started it all! Little House in the Big Woods is the first book in Laura Ingalls Wilder's treasured Little House series, which is based on her life growing up as an American pioneer.
Told from four-year-old Laura's point of view, this story begins in 1871 in a little log cabin on the edge of the Big Woods of Wisconsin. Laura lives in the little house with her pa, her ma, her sisters Mary and Carrie, and their trusty dog, Jack. Pioneer life is sometimes hard for the family, since they must grow or catch all their own food as they get ready for the cold winter. But it is also exciting as Laura and her family celebrate Christmas with homemade toys and treats, do the spring planting, bring in the harvest, and make their first trip into town. And every night they are safe and warm in their little house, with the happy sound of Pa's fiddle sending Laura and her sisters off to sleep.
And so begins Laura Ingalls Wilder's beloved story of a pioneer girl and her family. The nine Little House books have been cherished by generations of readers and listeners as both a unique glimpse into America's frontier history and a heartwarming, unforgettable story.

Outstanding
I will definitely be listening to this one over and over. Cherry Jones did an excellent job of narrating. The story of how they used to live- hunting, cheese making, sewing, etc- is so fascinating, & is described in detail. Appropriate for family listening. There are many parts boys will find interesting. It’s not just a girl’s book.

Lovely story!
All our kids (4,6,8,10yrs) all thoroughly enjoyed listening, as did I!
We so love to hear about all the old ways of simpler, self sufficient, times; before the distractions of modern life. Especially love how composed "Pa" is and how he makes a touching an effort to be nurturing towards his girls (a rare thing of those days).
Only negative is that a couple of stories (wild animals) gave our littlest one nightmares - so be cautious. However, overall we loved the story and imagine we'll listen to it many times over.

I Love this book so much
This book gives me cozy vibes. It also has some of the sweetest stories and I think it’s just more realistic than a lot of audiobooks or books like actual people do in normal life or things that you know what I mean it’s such a good book and it can be quality musing with all the songs I definitely think you should read it.
