Story
Ali Tamaseb has spent thousands of hours manually amassing what may be the largest dataset ever collected on start-ups, comparing billion-dollar start-ups with those that failed to become one - 30,000 data points on nearly every factor: number of competitors, market size, the founder’s age, his or her university’s ranking, quality of investors, fundraising time, and many, many more. And what he found looked far different than expected.

Story
Even the smartest among us can feel inept as we fail to figure out which light switch or oven burner to turn on, or whether to push, pull, or slide a door. The fault, argues this ingenious - even liberating - audiobook, lies not in ourselves, but in product design that ignores the needs of users and the principles of cognitive psychology. The Design of Everyday Things shows that good, usable design is possible. The rules are simple: make things visible, exploit natural relationships that couple function and control, and make intelligent use of constraints.

Making More Than A Contribution
- By Louise Thomson on 13-11-2021
Publisher's Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
An intimate look at the legendary British designer behind Apple's most iconic products - including the Apple Watch.
With the death of Steve Jobs in 2011, Jony Ive has become the most important person at Apple. Some would argue he always was.
Steve Jobs discovered Ive in 1997, when he found the scruffy British designer toiling away in a studio surrounded by hundreds of sketches and prototypes. Jobs instantly realised he had found a talent who could reverse Apple's decline, and become his 'spiritual partner'.
Their collaboration produced iconic products including the iMac, iPod, iPad and iPhone - designs that overturned entire industries and created the world's most powerful brand.
Little has been known about this shy, softly spoken designer. Until now. Jony Ive: The Genius Behind Apple's Greatest Products tells the riveting story of a creative genius, from his early interest in industrial design to his meteoric rise, as well as the principles and practices that led Ive to become the designer of his generation.

I’m a huge fan of technology and design with a particular interest in Apple. Jony Ive is a legend to me and this book should be right up my alley. Unfortunately however it draws so heavily on Walter Isaacson’s Steve Job biography that this book was very underwhelming. More than half the content comes directly from that book. I’ve heard the vast majority of this all before. It doesn’t bring much new information to the table. It reads like a retelling of the Jobs biography. The narration is great, but the content below expectations. 3 stars.
