Publisher's Summary

Kennedy Ryan presents book three in the Hoops series.

A deeply emotional, standalone romance set in the worlds of professional basketball and high fashion.

Divorced. Single dad. Traded to a losing squad.

Cheated on, betrayed, exposed. My perfect life blew up in my face, and I'm still picking up the pieces. The last thing I need is her.

A wildflower. A storm. A woman I can't resist.

Lotus DuPree is a kick to my gut and a wrench in my plans from the moment our eyes meet. I promised myself I wouldn't trust a woman again, but I've never wanted anyone the way I want Lo. She's not the plan I made, but she's the risk I have to take.

A warrior. A baller. The one they call Gladiator.

Kenan Ross charged into my life smelling all good, looking even better, and snatching my breath from the moment we met. The last thing I need is him. I’m working on me. Facing my pain and conquering my demons. I've seen what trusting a man gets you.

I. Don't. Have. Time. For. This.

But he just keeps coming for me. Keeps knocking down my defenses and stealing my excuses one by one. He never gives up, and now...I'm not sure I want him to.

The narrators did this story bo justice

the story was enjoyable
but it took a lot of effort to get through the spitty female voice and the older coarse voice of the male. struggled to match them to the actors

Looooove

Even though I've read this I just couldn't bear to not listen to it, the flow and the way Lotus blooms through the story and Kenan, the gladiator who had the shoulders carrying so much sadness and anger and betrayal, steals the hearts.

The narrators were choppy with the sentences for me, so it cut me out of flow alot, unlike the narrators of Long shot, who weave a web around you, you don't want to stop listening.

This just wasn’t like the rest

Rounding up on a 3.5star rating

I had high expectations for this book, I'd already read the other two in the series and absolutely love Kennedy's brand of weaving words. The characters from this book had made appearances in both previous books and so I had been anticipating this one … perhaps my expectations were too high, I had waited with eagerness which clouds my judgement now, but this one just didn't have the same effects.
The dialogue seemed wistful, too transcendent for my liking. I felt it dragged and lacked the grit, especially with lotus's background, the wounds of her life, it just wasn't like the previous two.
Both main characters were perfectly likable, the love story was believable and the story valid, it just didn't hold reverence the same way.
