Publisher's Summary
Ex-marine. Ex-wife. Ex-hausted.
I left my brothers in the marines to start a family. I left my ex-wife when that family drove her to drink and drugs. Now all I have left is my son - and he's all I care about.
I can't afford to make another mistake. And the girl who moved in next door? Mistake written all over her. She's got the sweetest smile, the hottest damn curves, and behind it all...a haunted look. I can't take my damn eyes off her.
My powerful body and coarse attitude make her nervous - and as she tries to start a new life away from her abusive ex, she has her own reasons to stay away. But we can't help it. We're f--king drawn to each other. And when she tells me how much she wants a baby...I make every mistake in the book. Because I want a family again.
I want her. My son. And a baby. And when her past comes calling...I'll fight to hell and back to keep it.

AWESOME STORY
I loved this book! With the ending being obvious when reading the blurb, a lot of my friends ask me how I 'enjoy something that I know the ending to?' but as I hope most passionate readers know, the main part of a book isn't the ending to the story. It's the twists and changes in the story that make it what it is, not the ending. The romance between Mac and Naomi was awesome, with the looming sense of danger and protection warring with themselves in Naomi's life. Tyler is also the cutest kid in this book with an adorable personality that makes you swoon when a cute kid is around. I listened to this as an audiobook and loved the narration, I had no need to change the speed and didn't cringe at their speaking. I don't regret reading this book and would definitely recommend this to those who like this genre. I loved this book!

really nice HEA
It's the first I've read of this author and I enjoyed the lighter take on a sensitive subject. Had some steam, romance and the hot alpha. it was sweet and on the gentler side. John lane's deep voice is awesome., and it's the first I've listened to veronica. she's narrated nicely and brings Naomi's character to life.

Great story by Lara Swan. Great performances by John Lane and Veronica Worthington. Glad it was a free read though.

Growing all the time
I loved the way this storyline had a couple of very strong issues. I liked that Naomi was able to see her growth on reflection and was able too use this to disarm ex partner when he came to the house and took her up into the forest to the cabin.

Such a good read.
It's been a long time since a book made my eyes well up with happy tears.
I liked how Tyler was written age-appropriate and not too smart or verbal for his age.
Mack is a great single dad main male character and boyfriend material. But seeing him interact with more people than his mum, Tyler, Naomi, and Fiona would have been nice.
I thought for sure Anton and Fiona were in cahoots when she was so enraged by Mack's relationship with Naomi. I feel like that was a missed opportunity.
The plot was intriguing and the ending satisfying.

Ok
The story had potential, the plot was interesting, however it could have been explored more. The start of the story was slow and the ending felt a little rushed.
Note: abuse and neglect is part of the story.
