Publisher's Summary
The best-selling adaptation of the iconic video game Halo: Combat Evolved featuring the Master Chief - part of the expanded universe based on the award-winning video game series!
It's 2552. Having barely escaped the final battle for Reach against the vast alien alliance known as the Covenant, the crew of the Pillar of Autumn, including Spartan John-117 - the Master Chief - and his AI companion Cortana, is forced to make a desperate escape into slipspace. But their destination brings them to an ancient mystery and an even greater struggle. In this far-flung corner of the universe floats a magnificently massive, artificial ringworld. The crew’s only hope of survival is to crash-land on its surface and take the battle opposing the Covenant to the ground.
But they soon discover that this enigmatic ringworld is much more than it seems. Built 100,00 years ago by a long-lost civilization known as the Forerunners, this “Halo” is worshiped by the Covenant - a sacred artifact they hope will complete their religious quest for supposed transcendence, and they will stop at nothing to control it.
Engaging in fierce combat, Master Chief and Cortana will go deep into the Halo construct and uncover its dark secret and true purpose - even as a monstrous and far more vicious enemy than the Covenant emerges to threaten all sentient life on Halo and the galaxy beyond....

a great introduction to the flood
while I loved the book. I felt that the writter was very repetitive in writtting combat excerpts. not necessarily a bad thing as the dialogue of the ODSTS was amazing and contributed alot to charecter, it can just get hard to stay interested in long combat scenes were the premise of the combat was mainly reused "he threw a grenade and wiped the survivors" or "the non comm ran through tiresome hallways unloading mags into the creatures as he went"

The W is silent
Great novel but the performance was slightly annoying as Todd McLaren insisted on pronouncing the W in Sword & I stood out.

The narrator can’t pronounce mjiolnir correctly and clearly doesn’t care about the book and the book itself is just halo CE

Fantastic Story, But disappointing narration
Halo The Flood is a fantastic Story that fleshes out the story of the first game. Whilst the story and content is fantastic, the narration is incredibly disappointing... It is overacted and full of mispronunciations that make it so hard to keep listening to this. It's a shame as this was one of my favourite books I have read and wanted a great audiobook.
Whilst I can recommend reading Halo The Flood, I can't recommend this audiobook due to the narrator

Satisfactory
Understanding this book was a bit of an after thought which has some contradictory parts, which you sort of had to ignore especially if you are a fan of the series. It was however still good to hear what happen in between missions for the Master Chief. Lastly i wish the author would seek additional military advice to bring some authenticity to the supporting characters and the universe they are operating in.

poorly written master chief pornography
lame analogies, repetitive combat and the human soldiers are all the yeehaw do you want to live forever soldier trope. Other similar titles have the restraint to have 1 or 2 of these individuals but in the story every human is that trope. It's exhausting this book is a struggle to finish.

disappointing, the later books are MUCH better
Meh, loved the later books but this was like having someone narrate the 1st game.. Halo : combat evolved.. and I mean that quite literally.. the dialogue was WORD FOR WORD
