Story
In the shadow of the Pentland Hills, a man has been callously struck down in front of his home. Tyre marks suggest it was no accidental hit-and-run. Somebody wanted him dead and as the man fights for every breath, they might still get their wish. Grappling with the demons he thought he could leave behind after months away on enforced leave, D.S. Malkie McCulloch resists pressure from his superiors to pass the case on to the road policing unit, convinced that whoever was behind the wheel will be waiting for the chance to finish the job.

Publisher's Summary
Read by the series reader Adam Sims.
One cold November day, a mysterious figure appears on the village green in Three Pines, causing unease, alarm and confusion among everyone who sees it. Chief Superintendent Armand Gamache knows something is seriously wrong, but all he can do is watch and wait, hoping his worst fears are not realised. But when the figure disappears and a dead body is discovered, it falls to Gamache to investigate.
In the early days of the murder inquiry, and months later, as the trial for the accused begins, Gamache must face the consequences of his decisions and his actions, from which there is no going back....
Gripping, surprising and powerful, Glass Houses is the new ingenious and illuminating novel from number one best seller Louise Penny which will leave you spellbound until the last minute.

Another triumph from Louise Penny
I loved this book - and an excellent performance from the reader. So why not 5 stars? The previous Gamache book was so good, and this one, while excellent, doesn't quite make the same grade. But a 4 starred Gamache book is 10 stars from any other writer.

Silly plot
Thought the plotting was too fanciful in this book. It just wasn’t procedurally credible. Our heroes became Keystone Cops.

Enthralling
Robert Bathurst beautifully conveys the enthralling characters who inhabit Three Pines. I have loved Louise Penny's books from the first novel I read. This is the first audio version to which I have listened. I will be listening to more.

Just WOW
As usual Louise Penny keeps on delivering. How history itself becomes part of the story and the story has so many paths. Truly amazing.

Glorious
Pure escapism.
I keep thinking I’m going to weary of these books and the characters. Surely there’s too much drama in one tiny town? But Adam Sims’ voice and characterisations propel it forward.
Another glorious tale by Louise Penny.

Boring
Extremely boring listen. Managed to get to chapter 3 but then had to stop as I couldn’t bear it any longer.
