When the Imagine Network commissioned a documentary on mermaids, to be filmed from the cruise ship Atargatis, they expected what they had always received before: an assortment of eyewitness reports that proved nothing, some footage that proved even less, and the kind of ratings that only came from peddling imaginary creatures to the masses.

Story
All Systems Red is the tense first science fiction adventure novella in Martha Wells' series The Murderbot Diaries. For fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans.

Story
Hundreds of feet beneath the ocean's surface, a graveyard waits. Years ago, the SS Arcadia vanished without a trace during a routine voyage. Though a strange, garbled emergency message was broadcast, neither the ship nor any of its crew could be found. Sixty years later, its wreck has finally been discovered more than three hundred miles from its intended course: a silent graveyard deep beneath the ocean's surface, eagerly waiting for the first sign of life.
Publisher's Summary
A crew must try to survive on an ancient, abandoned planet in the latest space-horror novel from S.A. Barnes, acclaimed author of Dead Silence.
An abandoned plant. A hidden past. A deadly danger.
Psychologist Dr. Ophelia Bray has dedicated her life to the study and prevention of ERS—the most famous case of which resulted in the brutal murders of twenty-nine people. It's personal to her, and when she's assigned to a small exploration crew who recently suffered the tragic death of a colleague, she wants to help. But as they begin to establish residency on an abandoned planet, it becomes clear that crew is hiding something.
And Ophelia's crewmates are far more interested in investigating the eerie, ancient planet and unraveling the mystery behind the previous colonizers' hasty departure than opening up to her.
That is, until their pilot is discovered gruesomely murdered. Is this Ophelia’s worst nightmare starting—a wave of violence and mental deterioration from ERS? Or is it something even more sinister?
Terrified that history will repeat itself, Ophelia and the crew must work together to figure out what’s happening. But trust is hard to come by…and the crew isn’t the only one keeping secrets.

Critic Reviews
“Perfectly unsettling. Ghost Station scratches the itch for space horror just right—and doesn’t shrink from the grisly consequences of exploring the unknown.”—Chloe Gong, New York Times bestselling author of These Violent Delights
“Ghost Station is everything I could want in a horror story and more. Barnes became one of my favorite authors with Dead Silence and this is a stunning follow-up. Highly recommended.”–Darcy Coates, USA Today bestselling author of Dead of Winter
“A skin-crawling, delicious tale of exploration, exploitation, and electrifying horror. I loved (and screeched through) every moment of it.”—Yume Kitasei, author of The Deep Sky

Slow build
I enjoyed the setting and the mystery of the situation. I found it a little slow for most of the book. It started to get good when it was almost over.
The main protagonist was annoying at first. She had so much emotional baggage I felt she had no place on the team at all. But as more information was presented it made more sense. The behaviour of the rest of the crew also made more sense with the slow reveal.
The ending was a little disappointing. I felt there was a lot of room for expansion. I wish we had more information on the ‘antagonists’ The good stuff came too little too late. Having said that, there was enough for me to want to keep going.
The narrator was great.

too much introspection
I was hoping to get a gritty hard science fiction story but instead got an inside seat on the therapy sessions the main character was giving herself. And it was soooo repetitive. The premise of the story was good - it's a shame that the author didn't have enough imagination to flesh that out instead of taking the easy way out and getting stuck inside a character's head.

Loved it
I thoroughly enjoyed this, I’m a sci fi maniac and I’m in a place of self analysis right now so this really spoke to me.
I would love to have more information about the the towers and the Lirians/Lyrians?
Narrator was perfection.

Starts strong but has some issues
Great to listen too but has some excessive dialogue at times, well read and the tone. Was well put. Though the main story is strong and full of suspense and interest, The ending feels inconclusive and unresolved on some points. S.A Barnes is a great writer with a lot of talent and fans of her work will enjoy this, just be mindful like Dead Silence some parts are just not as tidy as others in the story.
