Publisher's Summary
A North Korean ICBM crashes into the Sea of Japan. A veteran CIA officer is murdered in Ho Chi Minh City, and a package of forged documents goes missing. The pieces are there, but assembling the puzzle will cost Jack Ryan, Jr., and his fellow Campus agents precious time. Time they don't have.
The challenge facing President Jack Ryan is an old one with a terrifying new twist. The international stalemate with North Korea continues into its seventh decade. A young, untested dictator is determined to prove his strength by breaking the deadlock. Like his father before him, he hangs his plans on the country's nuclear ambitions. Until now, that program was impeded by a lack of resources. However, there has been a dramatic change in the nation's economic fortune. A rich deposit of valuable minerals have been found in the Hermit Kingdom. Coupled with their nuclear capabilities, the money from this find will make North Korea a dangerous force on the world stage.
There's just one more step needed to complete this perfect plan... the elimination of the president of the United States.

Another classic Tom Clancy
I have read (or heard) every TC book and this one doesn't dissapoint. A bit thin on closure at the end with characters and sub plots but overall a gripping yarn.

Narrator
Too “dramatic”. Needs to be more matter of fact and “cool”. Especially when reading direct quotes.

a damn good book
Mark Greaney has really followed Tom Clancy and his style and in his research.
I really enjoyed this book the story and the reading were well up to standard was also very enjoyable apart from one repetition of a phrase but this was a fault in the editing. All in all I could not be more satisfied and I think Tom Clancy would be pleased with this book also. very well done Mr Greaney🤟🏻😁

Getting better and better..
Ever since I started listening to the Jack Ryan series I simply couldn't stop! And although we lost the brilliancy of Lou Diamond Phillips and Michael Prichard, Scott ended up doing a good job ultimately (it takes time to get used though)
The plot of this book was one of my favourites in the series and delivered some breathtaking moments! I'm already upset to be reaching the end of the bookseries

Great story, bad narrator
I had the pleasure of listening to three of these books narrated by Lou Diamond Phillips. Those renditions were great, he had good pacing and distinct and entertaining accents allowing you to easily identify the characters.
Scott Brick, who narrates this book, does not have any of these qualities. The accents are poor, and the story telling is stilted and halted. All characters sound like this.
I've never abandoned an audiobook 15 mins in before. I've decided to just read the book instead. Such a shame.
