Story
“The problem of the twentieth century is the problem of the color line,” writes Du Bois, in one of the most prophetic works in all of American literature. First published in 1903, this collection of 15 essays dared to describe the racism that prevailed at that time in America—and to demand an end to it. Du Bois’ writing draws on his early experiences, from teaching in the hills of Tennessee, to the death of his infant son, to his historic break with the conciliatory position of Booker T. Washington.

Story
Dr. Stranges authored several books on scientific and religious subjects, including his classic The Stranger at the Pentagon, which tells the unusual story of a spaceman named Valiant Thor. Because Thor was a real person who appeared in a public on a few occasions (including at the UN headquarters in New York City), the legend of the Stranger at the Pentagon has grown, becoming a real head-scratcher for 21st-century UFO researchers. What exactly happened to Valiant Thor? Could Valiant Thor still be alive today, in 2018, somewhere in - or under - our nation's Capitol?

Publisher's Summary
In Flatland, originally published in 1884, a humble square describes his two-dimensional world to benefit the inhabitants of Spaceland, the three-dimensional realm he discovers when he is visited by a being from beyond his plane.
With dry wit and wild imagination, author Edwin Abbott Abbott builds a meticulous fantasy world rooted in an astute apprehension of psychology, politics, and social structures, as well as basic geometry. The story of Flatland, at once ridiculous and profound, delivers an incisive satire of social discourse that remains remarkably relevant today.

So glad I read it
I'd heard of it, but never had a chance to read it until I stumbled on it on the Audible list. It's an absolute classic. The author was a genius to have thought of the idea and to have executed it so well. Philosophically - spot on. He targets probably the biggest challenge to mankind - how to step out of the thinking framework that you've inherited.

Very Clever
I really enjoyed this book. A very witty philosophical take on society, and what happens if you dare to think outside the ideas and thoughts you have inherited.
