Unparalleled book on reality creation

I learned so much from this book, most of which allude to the fact that your thoughts are not private. You are an unbound creator. Your subconscious takes your thoughts and feelings as truth, and the reality you live and create is a reflection of that truth. I resonated with Goddard when he said ‘it is easier to ascribe your feeling to the events in the world, than to admit that the conditions of the world reflect your feeling. It is eternally true that the outside mirrors the inside’. It makes me think of just how important emotional regulation is, and the power it has in creating the reality you live in.

Another understated topic that Goddard deep dives into is leveraging the relaxed state prior to sleep. He talks about how unless you consciously and purposely define the attitude of mind with which you go to sleep, you unconsciously go to sleep in the composite attitude of a mind made up of all feelings and reactions of the day. It goes to show that feeling a state, produces that state.

It’s made me reflect on relationships with my partner and family, where I have assumed the worst in them, and that emotion has propelled that reality to unfold. Goddard suggests instead to convince yourself of people in your life acting and being that which you desire them to be. This is a whole new concept for me to wrap my head around but I’m very open to creating a reality of robust and loving relationships around me, by having the belief and emotional trust that the wish is fulfilled.

Goddard’s books are relatively small, but always profoundly philosophically punchy. Sometimes you will catch yourself mid breath, when a line of wisdom just hits you, so be prepared.

I love it! It's short but very well written. I listened to it twice to take in all the information.

A religious pocket book of common sense

If this is your first book on this topic, then it might be a somewhat okay introduction to self improvement. However if you already heard about self control and feelings/desire management, this book will be just to shallow for you packed with loads of common sense.

it's also mixing religious content to the story, which I found particularly annoying.

Out of date gender roles

This really needs an update in language. The principals are good, but phrases like, "a woman marries her husband to change him" are a bit hard to relate to.
