Publisher's Summary

In New York Times best-selling author Cindy Gerard's sizzling new novel, a ruthless international conspiracy is no match for the irresistible alpha heroes of Black Ops, Inc.

A race for survival...

Bold, blonde Defense Intelligence officer B. J. Chase isn't exactly thrilled when she's summoned from personal leave to investigate an alarming national security breach - until the suspicious death of a government official blows her covert mission sky-high.

Turns into a pulse-pounding adventure...

Gorgeous Black Ops bad boy Raphael Mendoza always feared his family's dark history would haunt him. But he never expected it might hold the key to dismantling a rogue weapons system. Now with cool B. J. Chase posing as his hot babe fiancée, he returns to his uncle in Colombia to convince him he can be trusted with the family's dirtiest business secrets.

And ignites a passionate fire.

Carrying out a deception among ruthless killers brings Rafe and B.J. too close to ignore the smoldering heat between them. Now, they must work together as the closest of partners as the countdown to international catastrophe closes in.

Best of the series.

Enjoying the series but this is my favourite so far. Loved BJ's badassness. First time listening to Shannon's narration and loved his deep raspy voice, but especially loved his Columbian accent. Yum yum 😋

awesome plot

Cindy really outdoes herself when it comes to plotline. the twists and turns and suspense is superb. I'm surprised she hasn't drawn better known narrators.
JF Harding is the most known whereas Douglas and now Shannon hasn't been on my radar.
it's great to have the BOI men find their ladies and like nate, green is a secondary romance in this book...but it's nice to have the story set for future novels.
I enjoy the international espionage and the base of the ops.
BJ is brilliantly strong and does some good redeeming but Rafe has a point about what he discovers about her just before the climax of the story.
But this is where Cindy stumbles, Rafe is described in all her books as a tough, strong, deadly character. To have him act the way he does toward his heroine is confusing and doesn't quite gel. again this could be change of narrator.
Then there are a few security issues that hiccup the story. then toward the end, the romance side is kind of sped up and becomes choppy ...
Now to Shannon, I'm guessing he was cast due to his ability for the Spanish accent. maybe douglas and JF couldn't do it?
just guessing though.
I'm in torture at the moment. his voice as Rafe reminds me of Antonio Banderas...in the movie Puss In Boots...which is comical...but this book is not .
Shannon has great tone and inflection for the angst in this story so I hate to be negative but i think Rafe needed someone with a sterner, darker gravelly type voice. someone like Aaron Shedlock or Sebastian York.
Rafe is so deadly but Shannon just doesn't sell him. all other male voices and the plotline are good. he does make the girl voices sound bimboish though.
still i enjoy the military style ops and I'll continue on to other books.
