Story
Candid and compelling, A Bigger Picture is the definitive narrative of Malcolm Turnbull’s prime ministership. He describes how he legalised same-sex marriage, established Snowy Hydro 2.0, stood up to Donald Trump and many achievements – remarkable in their pace and significance, and that they were delivered in the teeth of so much opposition. But it’s far more than just politics. Turnbull’s life has been filled with colourful characters and controversies, success and failure.

In his masterful new biography, H. W. Brands argues that Reagan, along with FDR, was the most consequential president of the 20th century. Reagan took office at a time when the public sector, after a half century of New Deal liberalism, was widely perceived as bloated and inefficient, an impediment to personal liberty.

The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan (“the devil”) and placed a bounty on his head. Kyle earned legendary status among his fellow SEALs, Marines, and U.S. Army soldiers, whom he protected with deadly accuracy from rooftops and stealth positions.

Now, in The Audacity of Hope, Senator Obama calls for a different brand of politics: a politics for those weary of bitter partisanship and alienated by the "endless clash of armies" we see in Congress and on the campaign trail; a politics rooted in the faith, inclusiveness, and nobility of spirit at the heart of "our improbable experiment in democracy".

A terrifying era in the history of democracy
- By Sheryelle on 26-09-2022
Publisher's Summary
Decision Points is the extraordinary memoir of America’s 43rd president. Shattering the conventions of political autobiography, George W. Bush offers a strikingly candid journey through the defining decisions of his life. In gripping, never-before-heard detail, President Bush brings readers inside the Texas Governor’s Mansion on the night of the hotly contested 2000 election; aboard Air Force One on 9/11, in the hours after America’s most devastating attack since Pearl Harbour; at the head of the table in the Situation Room in the moments before launching the war in Iraq; and behind the Oval Office desk for his historic and controversial decisions on the financial crisis, Hurricane Katrina, Afghanistan, Iran, and other issues that have shaped the first decade of the 21st century.
President Bush writes honestly and directly about his flaws and mistakes, as well as his accomplishments reforming education, treating HIV/AIDS in Africa, and safeguarding the country amid chilling warnings of additional terrorist attacks. He also offers intimate new details on his decision to quit drinking, discovery of faith, and relationship with his family.
A groundbreaking new brand of memoir, Decision Points will captivate supporters, surprise critics, and change perspectives on one of the most consequential eras in American history - and the man at the centre of events.

Interesting, honest and very frank
I enjoyed the book, as a person on the outside who didn't (and still don't in some instances) agree with Bush's position on things, i found this book brutally honest, thoughtful and immensely interesting. Done in a day - recommend it!

Hear it from the man himself
Don’t judge a president based on what his critics and the media say. Judge for yourself. It’s easy to be an armchair critic when you never have to make a decision that affects other people. Listen to what George W has to say and make up your own mind instead of getting a media interpretation of his words and actions. A good read and some great lessons.

Fascinating
Great to hear the Former President narrate this book and was good to hear his side of his time in office particularly 911 but also the economic and fiscal challenges he faced while in office. The latter I was not aware of so was good to hear it from him personally. Loved the accent though his narration was a monotone throughout. Would have been good if he unpacked many of the issues he faced a bit more because he really just touched on them. Highly recommend.

Well worthwhile listening to
It’s a rare privilege to listen to the memoirs of a US President. It is however a sad expose of the shallow barrenness of global political systems and media (not a criticism of President Bush – just our systems).
I was so impressed with his high stands and ethics and his striving to be a servant.
It was well-narrated although the former President is obviously not a gifted speaker.
