  • On December 31st, 1969, Joseph Yablonski, his wife, and his daughter were murdered inside their home in Clarksville, Pennsylvania. Earlier that year, Yablonski announced he was running for president of the United Mine Workers of America. His opponent was Tony Boyle, who had been president since 1963.
