You can't quite remember whole stretches of it. Or you remember it too clearly, in pieces that don't fit. You apologize when someone bumps into you. You read every face in a room before relaxing. You learned, somewhere along the way, that being small was safer than being seen — and you've never quite stopped being small. Childhood trauma doesn't always announce itself. Sometimes it's the household that wasn't safe, the parent who couldn't be trusted, the moment that split your life into a before and an after. Sometimes it's quieter. The love with conditions. The needs never met.

If you've ever tried to explain OCD to someone who doesn't have it, you know how lonely it can be. The intrusive thoughts that arrive uninvited. The compulsions you perform in private, sometimes for hours. The fear that your OCD is too weird, too stuck, too far gone to reach. It isn't.

Trauma doesn't always look the way the movies show it. Sometimes it's the way your shoulders climb toward your ears when a door slams. A smell that drops you somewhere you swore you'd left behind. The exhaustion of staying alert in a room that's perfectly safe. The realization that you've been carrying something for years your body never agreed to put down.

Sadly, in this world, we will encounter people who will use the ‘Dark Arts’ and do whatever it takes to achieve their goals, and in some cases, use the dark arts in such a horrible way, that nobody with a sense of empathy could believe. That is exactly why you need to equip yourself with the education of how these people work, their motivations & most importantly how you can protect yourself and your loved ones from these mind games.
