Zero Series

I thought my life pretty much sucked. A senior in high school, not one date. Being six feet with angry red curls and face full of freckles. Need I say more? Then the aliens showed up. Turns out the genius in the wheelchair was right. It didn’t go well for us. Oh, first, they were all friendly and "we are here to help". Then the wars came. Billions died. Then the virus. It killed everyone. Well, not everyone. I survived, but not without some noticeable changes in body.

Aliens showed up. Billions are dead from the wars. Then came the fun virus that seemed to kill everyone except my friend Reggan. She not only survived the virus, but her blood gave us a cure. What thanks does she get? None. She is being hunted like an animal. Which brings you to me. I am going to find my friend, and no aliens or puppy killers better get in my way. If you are taking notes, I am Ellie. You know where I can get a gun?

If an Eskimo found himself in Florida, would he think he had died and gone to heaven, or would he think he was in hell? Those are some of the thoughts Reggan Sobe has had lately. She has a lot to think about and plenty of time. There is no internet, cable TV, not even landlines. Books are hard to come by. Paper doesn’t do well in this new frozen wasteland. Most of the human race has been wiped out by the wars or the virus.

Ellie, Trisha and Jersey are on the hunt. They have to find Reggan who is also known as Zero. They are unsure what they will do when they find her. Before disappearing into the winter wilderness the 17-year-old single handily killed a group of well-trained soldiers. Has the virus that changed her finally taken over her mind and body. Whatever had happen to their friend they will find her and save her. 

Reggan and her friends have failed in their attempt to reach Canada. Still hunted by aliens and the army, they decided to hide in the bunker her grandfather built. But with supplies running low, they must venture out to restore not for food, but for gas. The only place they can think to get these is back in their hometown Cornwell. The very place they don't want to go.

Reggan has finally found her mom but both have changed. Invading aliens and war will do that to a person. The 17-year-old finds her mother is being too overprotective even to point giving her bodyguards. Reggan points out she would see, smell or hear any danger long before the two men following her around would. When her mom tells Reggan, she is being sent to Canada. They argue. Reggan decides she needs a break from her mom and the whole war.
