It's been six years since a terrifying breed of seemingly unkillable creatures emerged from the darkness to topple the unprepared governments of the world, in the process knocking mankind down the food chain. Survivors called it The Purge. A few brave souls rose from the ashes of the old world to fight back, often against overwhelming odds. Led by indomitable heroes, they risked everything to achieve a final, stunning victory over the supernatural "ghouls" in The Battle of Houston. Five years later, what remains of the ghouls have fled back into the shadows.

Six years ago, Gaby was the most popular girl in high school. Then the world ended. Times have changed, and everyone’s unanimous choice for homecoming queen is all grown up. These days she’s part of something greater than herself: a group whose sole mission is to restore order to a ravaged world that badly needs them. Gaby will do whatever it takes to get the job done - as a soldier, a leader, or when necessary, a killer. Dispatched into Texas to investigate a series of deadly raids on former ghoul collaborator towns, Gaby’s mission is to collect intel and report back.

Keo has been in tough situations before. Some have been tougher than others, but he’s always managed to come out on top thanks to an innate stubbornness, the skills he’s honed from a previous life, and a whole lot of Lady Luck. But Luck can sometimes be a fickle mistress, there are always people with more skills, and stubbornness has a tendency to bite you in the ass if you’re not careful. Since leaving Gaby at Axton, Keo finds himself being stalked by a highly-trained group of humans in the day and hordes of the undead at night. Someone, something out there wants him, and it won’t be denied.

Keo has tried to stay out of it, but five years in the wild have only led him back to the one place he dreaded most - alongside a woman from his past and fighting someone else’s cause. Except this is one war he can’t turn his back on. What’s a reformed mercenary to do? Lara didn’t want this. Not another war to fight. She’s been struggling to bring order to chaos since "The Walk Out" and doing it with as little bloodshed as possible. But Fenton is forcing her hand, and sometimes you have to get a little bloody, whether you want to or not.

The long night is upon them. After five years of hard work, dedication, and too many sacrifices, Lara thought she had made progress in bringing what remained of humanity together in her small part of the world. She also thought they had seen the last of the ghouls as a major threat. She was wrong on both counts. An unnatural alliance between two enemies, forged in secrecy, has finally been revealed. With Keo away on a mission, the real threat is at the gates, leaving Lara, Gaby, and a city full of civilians unprepared for a long and relentless night of fighting.
