Drawn to the lakes and peaks of the Cumberland Mountains of East Tennessee by the need to recover from the blow life has dealt her, Samantha Hill seeks to set her new priorities now that she has been denied what could've been and certainly should've been. All Matt Landry wants is two weeks off by himself hiking and fishing, during which he hopes to regain his hold on what is important in his life going forward.

Keeping a promise made to her father, Moira Buchanan journeys to the Cumberland Mountains of East Tennessee to Luna Lake Cabins. With a few touches here and there, she creates a temporary home away from home in which to enjoy her Christmas, but a haughty Siamese cat, the impulsive promise of a twelve-year-old girl, and a handsome Scottish laird soon turn all her plans upside down as she struggles to keep her innermost secret hidden from the one she loves most in the world.
