The Life of Mohammed: The Sira is a condensed version of the biography of Mohammed, a man who became the first ruler of a united Arabia and laid the foundation for the empire of Islam. The Sira is not just a biography but it is also a sacred Islamic text of how devout Muslims should conduct their life. Mohammed's life is an epic story. He was an orphan who rose from poverty to become the first ruler of all of Arabia. He created a new religion, new methods of war, and a new political system, including a legal code, the Sharia.

Islam is a religion, a culture, and a political system. The political system has its own body of laws, called the Sharia, which is derived from the Koran, the Sira (Mohammed’s biography) and the Hadith (Mohammed’s traditions). The Sharia is Allah’s law and is considered superior to all other man-made laws. Many Sharia laws concern non-Muslims and how they are to be treated. Every demand that Muslims make is based on the idea of implementing Sharia law in our countries. 

The easiest way to learn about Islam is through the traditions of Mohammed called the Hadith. The Koran repeatedly commands every Muslim to follow the perfect example of Mohammed’s life, his words and deeds, referred to as the Sunna. The Sunna includes the Hadith (Mohammed’s traditions) and the Sira (Mohammed’s biography). Since there is not enough information in the Koran for Muslims to practice Islam and understand the doctrine, the easiest way to learn about it is from Mohammed’s traditions. The Hadith gives us fascinating and detailed accounts of his life.
