Bei einer Auktion auf dem Anwesen lernt er die reiche Waise Ellie Guteman kennen, sie verlieben sich und heiraten kurz darauf. Kurz nachdem sie in ihr Traumhaus auf dem Anwesen gezogen sind, müssen sie feststellen, dass die Zigeunerin, die sie gewarnt hat in das verfluchte Haus zu ziehen nicht so ganz unrecht hatte.

Eine Tote im Flugzeug und keine Tatwaffe! Welch ein Glück, dass Hercule Poirot an Bord ist. Dennoch sind die kleinen grauen Zellen des belgischen Meisterdetektivs enorm gefordert bis er herausfindet, wer über den Wolken ein Motiv hatte, Marie Morisot umzubringen.
