"Little Thumb" is the youngest of seven children in a poor woodcutter's family. His greater wisdom compensates for his smallness of size. A sa mort, le meunier ne laissa à ses enfants que son moulin, son âne et son chat. Le plus vieux reçut le moulin ; le second, l'âne ; et le troisième n'hérita que d'un chat... botté !
