One escort, Tamsin, meets Mark and there is a mutual attraction. Inspiration for songs for Mark comes from the events around him and the people he meets. He likes Tamsin. He longs for Louise.

Emily's story continues as she finds herself caught between three worlds—the familiar, with her husband Joe, the fantastic, with her favorite client, Lawrence, and the forbidden, with her first black lover, Darnell. She can't have them all but they all want her. The question she must answer is who will give her what she wants.
