A Princess of Mars is the first book in Edgar Rice Burroughs' Barsoom series. Full of swordplay and daring feats, it remains the best example of 20th century pulp science fiction.

Vor Daj is a member of John Carters personal guard, and is one of the fiercest warriors on Barsoom. Llana of Gathol is a unique volume in John Carter’s Barsoom series. While the previous books featured a single story throughout, Llana of Gathol is an anthology of four shorter tales written later in Edgar Rice Burroughs’ life. These stories are, The Ancient Dead, The Black Pirates of Barsoom, Yellow Men on Mars and Invisible Men of Mars. These are also considered to be the John Carter stories with the most humor, and explore the life of an older John Carter, Llana of Gathol being his granddaughter.
