Detective Karen Parks has finally gotten the chance to close a pair of ten-year-old murder cases. These cases had troubled her for years, because the killer had laughed in her face and walked off scot-free. Now, though, when his daughter came forward to admit that, at ten years old, she had seen him kill her mother and sister, Karen finally had her chance. All she had to do was find him, and at last she got a tip telling her where he was staying.

Sam and his new team are drawn into a convoluted conspiracy, a plot for one company to take over another, which begins with the attempted murder of an innocent boy.
