Jaxon, regaining his physical health but still haunted by the emotional scars of an unwanted impending divorce, finds solace working at the Haven, where he feels welcomed and at home, at least for now. However, his sense of peace is shattered when Tiffany arranges for the arrival of llamas in distress, and he discovers that Keisha, his ex, is the one transporting them.

Walton Headly enjoys getting out and being as active as he can be, given his missing leg. However, playing soccer now is hard to adapt to, compared to playing soccer before his injury. He has been in rehab for a long time and now reaches a need to do more. Searching for a missing War Dog sounds like a great way to ease back into a working life. Chelsea Brown, a physical therapist, had helped get Walton back on his feet. He is one hell of a man but is struggling after that last soccer game.

Gideon immediately returned to Coronado base at the call for help. After hearing the issues facing him, he dove right in, knowing that he could bury the pain of his past broken relationship the same as he always had. Living a quiet life with her aging father, Sammy is surprised by an offer of help when she gets an unexpected flat tire. Strangers in this area are not common, and neither are they well received.

When the Captain suggests that Doreen might want to break her boredom spell by looking into an old case, she jumps at the chance. Anything new is always great, and anything that the Captain gives her means she has his permission—which gives her a lot of leeway in getting the information she needs.

With Mathew’s murder done and dusted, and her future now wide open, Doreen turns to sorting out her financial world, particularly as her antiques are sold. And helping others is moving up her list of things she wants to do. Especially after finding a young woman who wants to get out of the streetwalker world and to move back home.

Gage Hawkins was tracking his uncle’s last movements before his disappearance hunting a special set of tarot cards which led to Skylar’s shop, Talking Bones. After a bad head injury that brought weird sights into his view, Gage could see this Talking Bones place and Skylar were special. He could only hope she had answers because he had a lot of questions. Skylar preferred the dead to the living most times, but Gage had her reconsidering. Until she realizes something is wrong in his world, and it’s quickly overtaking hers.

When the journey to Rosemoor for a celebratory evening turns deadly, Doreen’s life is flipped on her head. She can only watch in horror as Mack is shot right in front of her. Horrified, she vows to solve this case and fast, before the shooter realizes he failed and comes back for a second attempt. Corporal Mack Moreau has been shot before, but this time it’s way worse because Doreen watched it all happen. Now she’s planning to catch the shooter before Mack even starts to heal. She’s yet to consider that maybe the shooter wasn’t after Mack but really wanted to shoot her.

During a layover in Paris, while traveling to start a job in Africa with Bullard, Madeline awoke, tied up in a strange hotel room with another female captive, named Anna. Nate comes to the rescue and shares how he had been called in to locate Madeline, when she didn’t arrive as planned.

Langdon hasn’t been in a good place for a long time, but it was time enough to chase away the woman he’d loved since forever. Unable to reach her to make it right, he realizes she’s disappeared—and not by choice. He then finds out why Molly was kidnapped and by whom. Molly would do just about anything for Langdon, yet being used as leverage to force him to act wasn’t part of the plan. But escaping would take more than her special energy skills, abilities her captors are unaware of. She needs to keep it that way.

The journey back to consciousness hadn’t been fast or easy, but, once awake, with weird images and voices in his head, Brody is all about getting back to the team and into the action. His senses are dulled, but, even then, he’s strong enough to know he has to leave the building where he’s been recuperating from the initial team accident. Not knowing any of the details doesn’t help, but it does mean trust is now the issue.
