Il titolo "Di stanze vuote" sembra un voluto gioco di parole: leggendo a voce alta può infatti diventare "Distanze vuote". Sono spazi vuoti lasciati dai momenti difficili nei percorsi umani, là dove non c'è una fede a sostenerli. Sarebbero eterne stanze vuote tutte le vicende della vita e tutti gli stati d'animo delle persone se non ci fosse qualcosa a dare un senso a tutto quello che ci circonda. È una metafora ampia e ricca di sfumature, che a sua volta il lettore può riempire con la propria visione delle cose.
