Règle N° 3 de la Meute : l’alpha doit s’accoupler. Plus l’alpha est fort, plus le danger est grand. La folie lunaire risque de m’emporter d’un moment à l’autre, désormais. J’ai cherché aux quatre coins du continent, me suis rendu à des jeux d’accouplement, mais je n’ai toujours pas trouvé la louve qui m’est destinée. Je suis déjà devenu trop sauvage au lit. Je ne suis pas inoffensif pas pour les femmes normales. Et encore moins pour celle qui vient d’emménager dans le ranch voisin. Elle est beaucoup trop tentante. Et je suis beaucoup trop dangereux. Il faut que je garde mes distances.

Règle N°1 de la meute : Ne jamais rien révéler à un humain. J'ai enfreint cette règle le jour où j'ai rencontré la belle doctoresse. Je suis peut-être un champion de rodéo, mais un seul regard sur elle et j'ai perdu ma concentration. Le taureau m'a éjecté et m'a encorné, et maintenant la belle femelle est après moi. Quand j'ai guéri en quelques heures, elle a su que quelque chose clochait. Mon alpha m'a dit de la surveiller. Aucun problème. Je la surveillerai comme il se doit. De très près. Je vais m'accrocher à elle comme de la Superglue. Et ces humains qui veulent sortir avec elle ?
