Chwila spokoju nie trwa jednak długo i wkrótce kapitan Nathan Scott i jego załoga, uzupełniona o nowych rekrutów spośród Corinari, muszą znów stawić czoła siłom Imperium Ta’Akarów. Podbita dekady wcześniej cywilizacja z pomocą Ziemian stara się odzyskać utracony honor i stawić czoła tyranom.

Świeżo naprawiony okręt… Ochocza załoga… Mnóstwo nowej technologii… Długo wyczekiwany powrót do domu… Załoga „Aurory” w końcu ma szansę na wypełnienie swojej misji, ale najpierw czeka ją długa, niebezpieczna podróż poprzez tysiąc lat świetlnych niezbadanej przestrzeni.

Po wygranej bitwie z „Yamaro” Nathan zostaje bohaterem Corinair. Jednak sprawy nie toczą się tak gładko, jak można by się tego spodziewać. Kapitan de Winter nie daje za wygraną i podejmuje kroki, by przejąć „Aurorę” i zdobyć jej napęd skokowy. Na Corinair uaktywniają się takarańskie grupy antyrebelianckie i zaczynają realizować działania, których celem jest przejęcie przez Ta’Akarów całej władzy na planecie. Również rozmowy Nathana ze zbiurokratyzowanym rządem Corinair nie przynoszą spodziewanych rezultatów.
