The Crawlers is a science fiction short story by American writer Philip K. Dick. Submitted under the title Foundling Home, it was first published as The Crawlers in Imagination magazine, July 1954. The story starts out from the point of view of a crawler constructing one of its curious hives. The crawler seems sentient and to genuinely enjoy building its odd dwelling. The story is set in a small Midwestern town, with references later in the story to mysterious "pools" which seem to cause mutations.

A causa di un bizzarro fenomeno scientifico chiamato "Fase Hobart", i morti risorgono dalle tombe, diventano adulti, giovani, adolescenti, infanti, per poi tornare nel grembo da cui provengono. Le sigarette si fumano a partire dalle cicche, si saluta il prossimo con un "addio" e ci si congeda con un "ciao", a tavola si dà di stomaco invece di mangiare. Alcune ditte specializzate, i "vitarium", si occupano di prelevare dai cimiteri i defunti che ritornano al mondo.

In "Follia per sette clan" Dick si tramuta, in quanto scrittore di fantascienza, in psicologo/ psichiatra che utilizza la sua creatura letteraria come atto terapeutico sia per i suoi personaggi che per i lettori, organizzando un viaggio dentro le psicosi della mente, o meglio – grazie alla duttilità della fantascienza – su Alfa III L2, una luna ospitante i ‘lunatici’, vale a dire, non coloro colpiti da malattia provocata (come una volta si credeva) dal mutamento dei cicli lunari, bensì coloro che, diagnosticati ‘folli’ sulla terra, sono stati allontanati (allunati?) su un satellite remoto e isolato.
