A season highlight is a three part episode where General George Custer recruits Chad to scout for him as he heads toward the Little Big Horn, causing Britt to follow in pursuit.

So, Britt MacMasters, former US Marshal turned rancher, and his ranch-hand Rusty, offer to escort the party through hostile territory.

Together, they are thrust into a dashed tricky situation concerning Uncle Willoughby's memoirs. Ticonderoga tells the story of Captain William Taylor and his Mohawk scout Degadawidah who are charged to escort Captain Carlton Campbell of the 42nd Highlanders through the dangerous lands of the Huron to Fort Edward, where the British are making plans to march on the French held Ticonderoga. On the journey they meet young orphan Adam Cobbs who receives a baptism by fire in the harsh and bloody wilderness of New York State. Ticonderoga is a musket blasting adventure on the epic scale that The Colonial Radio Theatre has become known for.

General U.S. Grant and General Sherman are caught off guard by the entire Confederate Army, with their backs to the Tennessee River! Confederate General Johnston's plan was to attack Grant's left and separate the Union army from its gunboat support (and avenue of retreat) on the Tennessee River, driving it west into the swamps of Snake and Owl Creeks, where it could be destroyed.

In Season Six of Powder River, Etta and Jacob discover a 10-year-old boy, Levi Curtis, chopping wood at their home, acting as if he lived there. Britt soon discovers he is the sole survivor of an Indian attack on the Conestoga wagon he's traveling in with his family. Britt realizes Levi has no relatives and prepares to take him to the orphanage in Sheridan. When the telephone line arrives in Clearmont, Millie hires Etta to work the switchboard. Etta soon begins hearing things she shouldn’t: other people’s conversations.

On Christmas Eve, after Sean breaks one of the tree ornaments, a strange force shrinks both him and his sister Samantha down to ornament size. They meet an Old St. Nicholas ornament who tells them that in order to return to their normal height, they must talk to the magical Star Angel who resides at the very top of the Christmas Tree - and they must do so before sunrise, when the magic that brings the ornaments to life fades away and will turn them into ornaments as well.
