Welcome to Serenity, the town where everyone looks on the bright side—on purpose. To belong in this picture-perfect community, residents must agree to reject negativity by embracing optimism as a way of life. For twelve-year-old Mackenzie Werner, whose feelings manifest as a colorful haze around her body, Serenity promises an escape from bad feelings, mean comments, and the distress of her haze turning into a grumbly grapefruit smog. However, when a documentary filmmaker comes to town and starts asking questions, Mackenzie is overwhelmed by emotion and can’t hold her haze back.

Crimson Twill is a unique little witch—she likes polka dots, sparkles, and sweet apples instead of rotten ones. And she finally has a real, full-length wand! Now Crimson is off to exciting New Wart City to take wand lessons with her best friends, Mauve and Wesley, and is surprised to discover that their class includes the famous young Broadwart star Miserabella Portentia!

When Astrid and the rest of the Shooting Stars find out that their teacher, Ms. Ruiz, is about to celebrate a big birthday, they band together to create the perfect gift. Her big day happens to be the same as the upcoming Code-a-Bot robotics competition, and they decide to do something special there.

She cannot wait to be the first astronaut with hearing aids, and she has the perfect Astronomically Grand Plan to make sure she does just that. The first part of the plan is to join the space club at school, Shooting Stars, with her best friend, Hallie—and go to Space Camp together!

After seeing the big Space-E rocket launch, Astrid just knows she’s going to be exploring space in a rocket of her own someday! And in honor of the big launch, Astrid and her fellow Shooting Stars will be building rockets of their very own. Even more exciting? The Shooting Stars will be getting a hand from interns from the actual Space-E team!

Two brothers are settling down for the night. The littler one, called Faly, doesn’t want to sleep, because his older brother is allowed to stay up later. “I wish I were big … ,” murmurs Faly. But the bigger one, Mahandry, sometimes misses being small. He has to do much of his climbing and exploring without Mama’s help. “I wish I were little … ,” murmurs Mahandry. Luckily, Mama knows how to show both of her sweet little ones that her love for them grows bigger every day, just as they do!

The Petite Picassos and the Shooting Stars groups are working together on a big project: creating a space-themed art piece and growing plants in water, just like they do in space. Not only is it worth four points on the Astro Mission chart, Astrid is finally working with her best friend, Hallie. But Astrid’s excitement doesn’t last long when they are grouped with her archnemesis, Pearl. What’s worse is that Hallie actually agrees with some of Pearl’s ideas for the project. Isn’t she supposed to be on Astrid’s side?
