Maauro has survived the terrors of the Barjan Deep. Armed with new information on her Creators, she sets out. Disaster strikes the hyperspace channel. Seachange is thrown into uncharted space. But they have not exited alone. A Thieves Guild ship, pursued by the Ederi, has also been flung free. Seachange must find somewhere to land but the unknown planet ahead, is circled by huge alien vessels. Maauro, Dassa, and the Seachange flee Mystic, having dealt a deathblow to the pirate haven, but at a terrible cost. Rasfel, organ-legged by those pirates, lies in frozen sleep aboard. Beyond hope, Maauro must find a way to resurrect the boy.

Wrik Trigardt, disgraced military pilot, and his companion, the ancient android Maauro, have survived their initial battles with the Guild, Confed government and the ancient Infestor Artifact. With the aid of the beautiful and canny Jaelle and the reluctant service of the former crimelord Dusko, they have established Lost Planet expeditions to go where others dare not.

Maauro and Wrik face their greatest challenge. A new area of space is being devastated by an unknown force: colonies and ships are disappearing. They accept Shasti Rainhell’s commission to find out what has happened and search for a lost cruiser. The voyage reunites them with the deadly Olivia Croyzer of Confed Intelligence. No one can imagine what awaits them on the other end of the starjump.

Maauro and Wrik’s adventures continue, but will they do so together? Maauro having acquired the wealth and special materials she needs to reconstruct her severed arm, awakens from her repair to find Wrik Trigardt gone. Compelled by his dark past, Wrik has set off on a journey to redeem himself to the people he left behind. Lost Planet is being torn apart as the split between Wrik and Jaelle Tekala has become irrevocable.

Wrik Trigardt ekes out a living in the Kandalor system with his small ship, Sinner. He is caught between his failed past and a grim present in service to the local crimelord, Dusko. An expedition to the Rift Asteroids promises better days, but when the well of time is disturbed no one can say what will surface.

A scientific expedition has disappeared in trackless space, and only the ‘Lost Planet’ agency has a shot at finding them and rescuing the grandson of Shasti Rainhell, secret ruler of Olympia. And so it is that star-pilot Wrik Trigardt and his female android partner Maauro, set off for uncharted stars while enemies known and unknown bar their path.
