In the wake of the catastrophe that devastated all tribes on Ara Island, a new threat has arisen. The Revek. They wield death magic, command the corrupted creatures, and prepare for total domination of the island and all who inhabit it. Jak, the Amber Warrior, the man who washed ashore and built a tribe of exiles from nothing, now unites the survivors against their final threat...

With his alliances set and his home secure, Jak has truly begun his war against the Tolvar. Likely not the greatest threat on the island he is trying to bring peace to, they still represent a significant problem and must be dealt with if harmony is ever to be achieved. But as he and his fellow warriors begin laying waste to Tolvar warparties and launching their campaign of primeval warfare, all is not as it seems. Jak is convinced he's missing something, something crucial, and in the midst of all this primitive bloodshed, mysteries are about to be solved, and new problems will unfold.

What remains of Pine Lake is a dead end, and the best hope for Chris, the women he loves, and the denizens of the settlement now lay in a town of preppers living on an island a few hundred miles to the north. All of their faith is now being put into that settlement, and the train that Chris discovered and Fay repaired. Even with a mostly functional train and a lot of luck, it will still be a long journey. Any number of dangers, environmental, animal, and human, could lay in between them and their destination.

Doom has come to Ara Island. As the first snow of the cold days begins to fall from slate gray skies, a massive burst of dark magic is released. His plans cast aside, his tribe broken, his world thrown into blood-drenched chaos, Jak plunges into the dark maw of certain death to save who he can.

Chris, Hannah, and Megan braved the icy horrors of the frozen wastelands. They fought for their lives, endured brutal conditions, and managed to find exactly what they were looking for: a forgotten bunker full of precious resources. Unfortunately, the bunker was just a temporary stop-gap. The slow death of starvation still looms on the horizon for the denizens of Pine Lake. If they can't figure out some way of solving the problem, they'll lose everything.

Three months have passed since Chris helped save what remained of Pine Lake. He has finally been forced to face a problem that has hounded him since he began his nomadic lifestyle in the face of this new apocalypse: He has found a place that he wants to call home, but his intense wanderlust is driving him insane.

The long journey down the highway has come to an end, and as Chris and his girls at last find the town of Pine Lake, they discover that tragedy has struck. Raiders have burned down almost the entire town. Most of the population is dead, missing, or scattered across the region. Food reserves and medicine stocks were lost in the fire. Dangerous men and animals roam the frozen wilderness as temperatures plummet.

What started out as a relatively simple encounter with two highly attractive women trying to survive in the frozen wilderness is now rapidly becoming more complicated for Chris. His relationship with Lara and Susan is growing into something much more complex and emotional, and on top of that, Jessica has just arrived on their doorstep with her daughter Hannah. She reveals that she has left her neglectful husband for good, and consequently needs a place to stay.

While Chris was out finding himself and answering some crucial questions about how he wants to live his life, tragedy and bad luck was striking Pine Lake repeatedly. After a series of accidents and a run of poor luck, culminating in a freak storm, Chris has returned home to learn that the place he intended to settle down is no longer capable of sustaining life in any long-term fashion. To make matters worse, Megan led a team off on a desperate expedition to follow a modern day treasure map to what they hope to be a cache of supplies locked away in a remote prepper's bunker.

After tackling the dual menaces of the stalkers and the vipers, they have at last secured peace for themselves. And though the days turned into weeks, and the weeks into months, a blessedly boring routine settling in, David has stayed vigilant. He knows that nothing lasts forever, and peace can be snatched away in an instant.

In the weeks that followed the successful campaign to eliminate the stalker menace, David and the ladies have returned to Haven. It's been a peaceful four weeks, a return to as close to "normal" as you can get in a post-apocalyptic world where undead monsters roam the landscape and humans live alongside a half-dozen different species of inhumans.

Six weeks have passed since the official founding of the settlement known as Haven. In that time, things have settled into a nice routine for David and the ladies in his life. He's been surprised to learn that he actually makes a half-decent village leader, though he imagines some of that has to do with the fact that he shares the job with three very capable women. But things have been going well.

In the wake of the successful attack on the group of raiders that had been harassing the whole region for months on end, including burning down River View, David and his group realize that now is no time to rest. If anything, the time has come to step up their game and start taking their role as community leaders more seriously.

Having been knocked unconscious at the beginning of the surprise attack, David awakens to a nightmare: two days have passed, and the Marauders own everything. All of the settlements are completely under their control, almost everyone in the whole region has been captured, and their patrols are everywhere. But it isn't all hopeless. They've prepared for this, and as David heads out into the night to learn just how bad things are, he begins running into his friends who are still free and very much active.

After nearly two months out away from Pine Lake and the women in his life, Chris is finally ready to head back. Feeling like he's conquered his demons, or at least won a decisive battle against them, and learned some crucial things about himself and his relationships, he's eager to return home and continue his life there. But it's going to be a long walk, and although he isn't too concerned about the day-to-day difficulties of traveling across the frozen wilderness, he's nervous about traveling with the four women he's picked up while out finding himself.

The Marauders have been driven out. Haven is safe. Sanctuary is safe. David and the women he loves and his people are safe. For now. Times are changing, and they are going to have to change with them. David can't help but feel that the end of an era is upon him, and the dawn of a new age is coming. Right now is an intermission, a time of transition, a time of reflection. They've all come a long way. They're all different people now. As he goes about preparing for whatever may come, David makes sure to spend time with each of the women in his life...
