Who or what is Zheng, the grotesque crimson-robed madman who will stop at nothing to obtain the secret of the Lost Gold of Kwan’chi? A down on his luck cow puncher from Texas drifts into 1940s New York, in search of work. When he stumbles across a strange, skull-stamped coin and attempts to pawn it, Saxon & Associates are drawn into a desperate battle as two rival criminal factions vie for the key to the legendary treasure of golden skulls.

Saxon & Associates' vacation in the hills of West Virginia is interrrupted by first a disappearance and then a series of strange deaths heralded by a bizarre, keening sound that haunts the lonely night. The resolution of the case only brings more disturbing news, as they discover an old enemy has unexpectedly returned from the dead.

Some days it just doesn't pay to get out of bed and face a brave, new world! Cut-rate detective Joel Wilder and his alien cronies are back, as Wilder reluctantly accepts the assignment to locate a missing scientist and his mysterious invention. What begins as a hopeless mess only becomes worse when Gel cheerfully enlists Cairo Bombazi, Wilder's arch-rival, to "help" with the investigation.

The Eclipse has no time to rest on his laurels, following the destruction of The Inferno and 'Bull' Logan. A new crime boss promptly moves in to try to seize control of Chicago, with the aid of the surviving members of Logan's gang. As if that wasn't enough, a series of hanging deaths occur across the city, all apparently connected in some way with a jewel robbery from several years prior.

Residents of a small town in Ohio are suddenly confronted by a spectral house that appears and disappears before their very eyes, and a strange, glowing dwarf. Then the disappearances begin. The trail leads to a government-financed project intended to radically boost agricultural production. When Saxon and Associates arrive to investigate matters, they encounter and rescue the sister of a missing graduate student and Weed comes face-to-face with the gibbering horror in the dead of night.

When the Wilder Agency gets a lead on the theft of the fabled jewel that is the basis of the planet's financial structure, it's up to the alien Gel to plan the retrieval of the gem and engineer a presumably dazzling reward. There are, unfortunately, a few tiny flaws in this plan. Such as Gel, the three huli maidens, and the happy-go-lucky yogurt delivery-tiger who comes along for the ride.
