Publié en 1835 par Honoré de Balzac, Le Père Goriot est un roman emblématique de La Comédie humaine. Il se déroule à Paris en 1819, principalement dans une pension du 5e arrondissement, tenue par la veuve Madame Vauquer. For a very long time Monsieur de Merret has been suspecting his wife of infidelity. One night he comes home earlier than usual and knocks on the door of his wife’s chamber.
