Are heroes born? Or are they made? Christoffer Johansen is about to find out. When he and his friends - magical and human alike - return to the realm of the giants on a secret mission to restore the Drakeland Sword, he expects it to be a breeze. After all, the attention will be on his buddy Henrik, a born hero.

The fey realm of Niffleheim is rife with danger everywhere he looks. A terrible dragon by the name of Fritjof is intent on causing chaos, pitting the fey against each other and starting an interspecies war for the chance of gaining his freedom. Aleks’ biological father wants him to abdicate the throne before his coronation, or else. All that, and he has to impress the father of the girl of his dreams. What’s a bloke to do?

James Gillett joined the rangers in 1875 and for the next six years, he would be combatting thieves and murderers, fighting in the Mason County War, capturing vigilantes, and providing law and order for the towns. First published in 1921, Gillett's account of his six years of service relates how the Rangers maintained law and order on the frontier. Gillett witnessed the kind of action that established the Rangers' enduring reputation.

Aleks Mickelsen is a changeling with diminishing magical powers and a complete nuisance for a new a pet. For the first time in his life, he's lost. He led his friends to the wrong place. They might joke about there being worse things to face than disorientation, but comparing what Aleks did to the Wild Hunt breathing down their necks (even if the comparison is somewhat favorable) isn't all that comforting. Hopefully, Aleks can get his head on straight and get them all back on track to fighting Fritjof, otherwise chaos is going to win.

First Aleks' mom loses the car keys, which he finds in the fridge, and then Christoffer forgets how to get to his own house. On the surface it doesn't seem so bad, but events become more disturbing as the day progresses. Something strange is happening in Norway, and Aleks Mickelsen is the only one who can stop it. Too bad for us, the last thing he wants is another adventure.

Zaria Fierce is determined to get things right this time and with the Drakeland Sword in her possession she's ready to take on trolls, dragons, and whatever else may come...but first she and her friends are going to have to figure out just how much trouble they're in at home.

At first she’s surprised and curious, but then Olaf threatens to eat her, which is an act Zaria could not in good conscience consent to, so Zaria counteroffers. A deal is struck and she goes to school, but Zaria is about to learn the hard way that one does not trick a river-troll and expect to win.

An alien on the run from bounty hunters arrives on Earth and hides in the body of a gangster who has just been murdered by his own gang. He finds himself in conflict with the gangster's determination to avenge himself on the gang and redeem a past failure while at the same time he has to deal with the bounty hunters.
