Impressionist art from one of the masters of all time has a really intriguing back story. Susie looks at the life of Edgar Degas and how his sexuality informed his famous ballet dancer paintings. Degas captures their grace and discipline, but a new book reveals the dancers real lives and how Degas captured their beauty and hid their pain. Ballerina: Sex, Scandal and Suffering Behind the Symbol of Perfection by Deirdre Kelly inspired Susie to think about Degas' own erotic identity. He was a masochist, femme and repressed....

This week's show kicks off Susie's San Francisco interview series. First up is Veronica Monet, a prostitute who is also an avowed feminist, a loving wife, and a professional speaker. Susie loves it and she laughs along as she reads the "sincere" advice for young writers, which includes establishing a daily routine involving many ways to have sex with a publisher. If you have writers block, says the article, just move on, find a different person to sleep with, and your slump may improve!

A new feature on Amazon recently led Susie to a funny case of mistaken identity. In a book about traveling through Japan (William Ferguson's "The Highway to Hokkaido") someone named Susie Bright is mentioned teaching ESL through Porn. Then, Susie talks about her new toy, "The Slightest Touch" aka the Orgasmatron. It's an electrical device designed to help women overcome "the arousal gap." Then in her mailbag, Susie talks about sex after conception and what it takes to be the perfect gigolo.

Susie starts off today's show with a technology article from Popular Science. The topic: UK Prime Minister David Cameron's proposed anti-pornography plan. He wants stricter filters for search engines, because he believes that many children are viewing porn online. Cameron believes that a "family filter" set up by his government can solve the problem and promises to do "whatever it takes to keep our children safe." Susie reads from the story and finds so many holes in this absurd plan.

Susie spends the entire show with her guest Daniel Bergner. His just-released book What Do Women Want? is on the New York Times best-seller list. The book is subtitled Adventures in the Science of Female Desire and it disrupts the typical idea that women are more monogamous then men. His research looks at women's desire and arousal, and he turns the tables on conventional thought. Susie and Daniel talk about why women aren't seen as animalistic, whether research takes into consideration sexual politics, and female erotic fantasy and lust.

This week, Susie celebrates the publication of her new collection Three The Hard Way three erotic novellas by William Harrison, Greg Boyd, and Tsaurah Litsky. Actor Michael Douglas recently claimed that oral sex caused his throat cancer. Susie reads from an article in The Guardian newspaper that reveals some candid facts about the Hollywood bigwig. Douglas says that HPV, human papillomavirus, is what did him in. Susie takes a more skeptical look at his claims, saying cunnilingus doesn't cause cancer. A man posts a personal sex ad on Craigslist. No problem, right? Except this guy is a teacher, and it seems his private life is not private. After a complaint to the police from an anonymous caller, our teacher removed the ad. But it didn't end there; he was fired. Susie finds the decision of the court over this case to be so misguided, she's breathing fire. She looks at what they called "vulgar" and "inappropriate" and calls the firing a witch hunt by repressed men who are holier then thou.

An alarming amount of deaths in the gay porn industry has Susie wondering what's going on. Today, Susie reads from a recent article in XBiz by Dan Cameron entitled "Searching for Answers". Although an X-rated gay-movie career can magnify the pressure its male stars are placed under, there have never been so many suicides as in the past 17 months. Susie looks at the role inadequate health care has played in the despair and what the industry needs to do to help these troubled souls.

Susie has a beef with a story that claims that Iceland is the world's most feminist country. Why? Because they say they banning strip clubs is pro-feminist. And Susie says wait a minute!

China is well-known for its bootleg DVD sales. Not only are the latest Hollywood blockbusters available, but so are the hottest porn movies. But porn is illegal, so the need to censor the offending entertainment creates jobs for teams of men watching porn. Susie is all over this bizarre news story about the sad workers who become numb after years of viewing graphic scenes. Sounds like a pretty hard job!
