Der Krieg der Welten (engl. Originaltitel: The War of the Worlds) ist eines der bekanntesten und bedeutendsten Werke von H. G. Wells. Das Buch wurde 1898 veröffentlicht, es folgten mehrere Auflagen. Die deutsche Übersetzung von Gottlieb August Crüwell erschien 1901. Berühmt wurde Krieg der Welten als Hörspiel im Jahr 1938 am Vorabend von Halloween nach einem Drehbuch von Howard Koch ins Amerika der damaligen Zeit versetzt und später in mehreren Verfilmungen (zuerst 1953).

Los primeros hombres en la luna es una novela de romance científico de 1901 escrita por el británico H. G. Wells. Relata el viaje a la Luna por parte de los dos protagonistas principales: el empobrecido empresario Mr. Bedford, y el brillante pero excéntrico científico Dr. Cavor, el creador de una sustancia anti-gravitatoria a la que bautiza como cavorita.

"Ann Veronica" is a New Woman novel by H. G. Wells published in 1909. "Ann Veronica" describes the rebellion of Ann Veronica Stanley, "a young lady of nearly two-and-twenty", against her middle-class father's stern patriarchal rule. The novel dramatizes the contemporary problem of the New Woman. It is set in Victorian era London and environs, except for an Alpine excursion. Ann Veronica offers vignettes of the women's suffrage movement in Great Britain and features a chapter inspired by the 1908 attempt of suffragettes to storm Parliament.

Der Schauspieler Friedrich Schoenfelder las darin Grusel- und Kriminalgeschichten für Erwachsene zur guten Nacht vor. Bezeichnenderweise schlug er selbst 1972 der Unterhaltungsabteilung des SFB vor, eine Sendereihe zu starten, in der von ihm redaktionell ausgewählte Gruselgeschichten zu Gehör kommen sollten.
