Ein Roboter bringt besorgniserregende Kunde von einem Spähtrupp. Es gibt vier vermisste Soldaten auf einem höllisch heißen Planeten, der erst vor kurzem entdeckt worden ist. Scheinbar unbewohnt lauert eine latente Gefahr auf die Suchmannschaft, der sich Sherlock Holmes und Dr. Watson natürlich anschließen.

Mit einer militärischen Vorgehensweise soll der verborgene Unterschlupf der Verschwörer ausgehoben werden. Es kommt zu einem regelrechten Feuergefecht, mit Verlusten auf beiden Seiten.

Die Buchhalterin Lura will Schauspielerin werden und überredet Sherlock Holmes, ihren Agenten zu mimen sowie Dr. Watson ihren Anwalt. Filmmogul Grapschinger ist davon wenig begeistert, denn es gab einen Todesfall während der Dreharbeiten, wo ihm ein Anwalt bereits lästig fiel. Holmes ahnt, dass sein Spürsinn gefragt ist.

Der Präsident der Galaktischen Union persönlich beehrt Sherlock Holmes mit einem Auftrag. Sein Schwiegersohn braucht Hilfe in einer Ehrensache. Was sich zuerst für Holmes wenig interessant anhört, bekommt eine neue Dimension, als er an Ort und Stelle eintrifft.

Die Galaktische Union hat auf dem bewohnten Planeten LHS 3154-b Menschen ausgesiedelt. Ein Vermittler namens Winblad soll zwischen den Einheimischen und den Zugezogenen vermitteln, doch er kommt unter mysteriösen Umständen ums Leben. Sherlock Holmes erklärt sich bereit zu ermitteln.

Sherlock Holmes wird mit Dr. Watson auf eine Raumstation geschickt. Dort soll er einen Androiden unter Menschen finden. Die Schwierigkeit dabei ist, dass dieser ein, dem Menschen täuschend ähnliches, gefährliches Exemplar ist, das zudem über geschärfte Sinne verfügt. Doch auch Holmes' Sinne sind übermenschlich.

Tornots Bruder hat sich eines Vergehens schuldig gemacht, daher soll er so schnell wie möglich gefunden werden. Doch der unliebsame Verwandte verfügt über ein Vermögen sowie ein Raumschiff. Dank der Hilfe von Sherlock Holmes und Dr. Watson kann er letztlich wider Willen aufgetrieben werden.

Auf Albireo Bf wurde eine Kolonie junger Pärchen ausgesiedelt, von denen eines den Großvater mitgenommen hat. Jener meint nun, hinter eine Verschwörung gekommen zu sein. Sherlock Holmes und Dr. Watson werden von der Galaktischen Union beauftragt, diesem Gerücht nachzugehen.

The Sign of the Four (1890), also called The Sign of Four, is the second novel featuring Sherlock Holmes written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Doyle wrote four novels and 56 short stories featuring the fictional detective. The story is set in 1888. The Sign of the Four has a complex plot involving service in India, the Indian Rebellion of 1857, a stolen treasure, and a secret pact among four convicts ("the Four" of the title) and two corrupt prison guards. It presents the detective's drug habit and humanizes him in a way that had not been done in the preceding novel, A Study in Scarlet (1887).

One of eight stories in the volume His Last Bow, it is a lengthy, two-part story consisting of "The Singular Experience of Mr. John Scott Eccles" and "The Tiger of San Pedro", which on original publication in The Strand bore the collective title of "A Reminiscence of Mr. Sherlock Holmes". Holmes is visited by a perturbed proper English gentleman, John Scott Eccles, who wishes to discuss something "grotesque".

The Adventure of the Retired Colourman (1926), one of the 56 Sherlock Holmes short stories written by British author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is one of 12 stories in the cycle collected as The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock Holmes is hired by a retired art supply dealer from Lewisham, Josiah Amberley, to look into his wife's disappearance. She has left with a neighbour, Dr. Ray Ernest, taking a sizeable quantity of cash and securities. Amberley wants the two tracked down.

The Adventure of the Sussex Vampire, written by British author Arthur Conan Doyle, is one of 12 Sherlock Holmes stories collected between 1921 and 1927 as The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes. Watson, M.D.", that assures readers that as of the date of publication (1917), Holmes is long retired from his profession of detective but is still alive and well, albeit suffering from a touch of rheumatism.
