He spent all his money on his outfits and had a different one for every time of day and every occasion. One day, two thieves arrived in town and pretended to be weavers who knew how to make the most beautiful and sophisticated fabric. This material, they said, had the marvellous property of only being visible to those who did their job well. It was the perfect offer for our fashionable king, who immediately placed an order.

En prins drager ud i verden for at finde sig en rigtig prinsesse at gifte sig med. Verden er fuld af smukke piger, men ingen af dem er rigtige prinsesser. Prinsen vender tomhændet og trist hjem til sit slot. En stormfuld aften banker en gennemblødt prinsesse på slottets dør og beder om husly. Prinsens mor er imidlertid ikke overbevist om, at hun er en ægte prinsesse, men hun har den perfekte måde at undersøge det på.

En lille fattig pige bliver juleaften sendt ud på gaden for at sælge svovlstikker og tjene en smule penge til familien. I H.C. Andersens klassiske eventyr "Snedronningen" bygger en ond trold et troldspejl, hvori alt det skønne bliver spejlet som grimt, og alt det gode bliver spejlet som ondt. Troldene beslutter sig for at tage spejlet med op til himlen og drille englene, men på vej derop går spejlet i hundredvis af stykker, der spreder sig ud over hele verden. Nogle af stykkerne bliver lavet til vinduer, andre til brilleglas, men de allermindste stykker sætter sig fast i menneskenes øjne og hjerter og ændrer deres liv for evigt.

I en lille landsby bor der to mænd, der begge hedder Claus. Den ene bliver kaldt Store Claus, fordi han har fire heste, og den anden bliver kaldt Lille Claus, fordi han kun har én hest. Store Claus og Lille Claus skal begge bruge heste til at pløje deres jord, og indimellem låner de hinandens heste. Det kommer imidlertid til at skabe splid mellem dem, og det ender helt galt for dem begge to. H.C. Andersen (1805-1875) var en dansk forfatter og kunstner.
