Das Erscheinungsdatum der einzelnen Kapitel entsprach dabei in etwa den Etappen der fiktiven Reisegruppe um Phileas Fogg. Der exzentrische Gentleman und sein französischer Diener Passepartout brechen am 2. Oktober 1872 von London aus auf.
