Orphaned twin boys are raised by a woodsman they call "Uncle," away from the society he bitterly left years ago. Trained in the arts of the woodsman, they became the ultimate hunting, fishing, surviving and killing forces that Uncle had designed them to be. Das Lustspiel besteht aus vier Akten und wurde im Jahr 1802 in Wien uraufgeführt. Der Bürgermeister des Städtchens Krähwinkel möchte seine Tochter Sabine mit dem Bau-, Berg- und Weginspektors-Substitut Sperling verheiraten. Die Tochter, die zuvor ein Jahr in der Residenzstadt verbracht hat, hat dort Karl Olmers kennengelernt, den sie gerne heiraten möchten. (Herr Karl Olmers). Kurz vor der Verlobung mit Sperling taucht Karl Olmers in Krähwinkel auf und versucht, die Verlobung mit Sperling zu verhindern und die Angehörigen von Sabine für sich zu gewinnen.
