Comprising 10 short stories, The Confessions of Arsène Lupin first appeared in 1913. Each story features the eponymous gentleman-burglar, who deploys his remarkable wit and skill to plot a path through aristocratic society, outwitting both police and criminals along the way. This collection contains tales of romance and mystery, with Lupin himself never above performing the occasional good deed, while pocketing his own rewards, in the course of his adventures.

In the third installment of the Arsène Lupin series, we find our gentleman burglar up against Isidore Beautrelet, a young but gifted amateur detective who is determined to foil Lupin once and for all. As he hunts down the Hollow Needle, a needle that contains secrets that have been passed down from French kinds since Julius Caesar, Beautrelet is never too far behind.

As revenge for marrying a man he didn't approve of, Véronique d'Hergemont's father, Professor Antoine d'Hergemont, kidnapped her baby and, while escaping, drowned with the baby at sea. Fourteen years later, in 1917, Véronique is watching a film and spots her quite unique signature written on the side of a hut in the background of a scene. The signature, V d'H, prompts her to visit the location where the movie was shot and launches her into a deep and ancient mystery that only one man can solve.

One evening, wealthy diamond merchant Rudolph Kesselbach is visited at the Palace Hotel by Arsène Lupin. The next day, Kesselbach is found dead from a gunshot wound, with Lupin’s card pinned to his shirt. Beautrelet becomes quite the thorn in his side, and he may even be clever enough to thwart Lupin. But even Beautrelet may not be the greatest threat to Lupin’s schemes.
