Once again, Jax has found himself in the thick of it. His party needs to escape, make changes and improve on the incomplete and barely manned ships they stole. With the city, not to mention the Dark Legion, gearing for war, he has only one choice available. Landfall. Jax and his people must take the risk of landing aboard the possessed, infested, and crumbling Sunken City. They need to move people, resources, and more around. While preparing the ships, the new citizens, and hell, Jax needs to meet most of the people who followed him blindly on the promise of a better life.

Stranded on a hostile continent with only Oracle and Sehran, Jax is facing a hard truth: all the power of his newfound crown means nothing in a land where no one knows his name—and wouldn't care if they did. Time's running out until the enemy find him, and without his friends and his legions, what chance does he have? He's far from home, surrounded by enemies in an unknown land, and where his own lands are now free of the taint of the dark one and his minions, Carrmor is anything but.

Jax survived the Smugglers Path, as did most of his party, but he's suffered losses, found out just how far he's willing to go for Oracle, and seen his own darker side . . . as have his followers. The City of Himnel crawls with depravity, violence, and backstabbing, and if Jax wants to keep his people, supply his growing war-machine, and have any kind of a chance at survival, he needs to not only survive there, he needs to rob it blind!

New companions, new threats, and at last a real home. Jax has a chance to turn his territory into more than a relic, buried deep in the forest. War is on the horizon . . . Things are looking up for Jax, more or less. He's met the girl (Wisp) of his dreams, got some new friends (the kind he'd fought with and alongside in his gaming), and even managed to start a war . . . Okay, that last bit might not have been the wisest thing he's ever done, but the guy was an ass, and he deserved it . . .

Warfare below the streets, backstabbing, and brutality. Kabutt is out. Out of the army, out of patience, and out of control. He's found a home, people to fight for, and once again, the city seems determined to screw that up for him. He's got backstabbing elves trying to rip him off, corpos forcing him and his team into unsanctioned deathmatches for live broadcasts, and of course, the usual skulduggery, not to mention more goddamn goblins.
