"Passen Sie auf", sagt kurz vor seiner Exekution ein Mafia-Killer dem Polizisten Dave Robicheaux von der Mordkommission in New Orleans, "die Kolumbianer wollen Ihren Kopf." Und prompt muss Robicheaux wieder an das tote schwarze Mädchen denken, das er jüngst aus einem Tümpel gezogen hat.
