The Hayden War has ended, and now SOLCOM and the Alliance are face to face in talks, but neither side has the slightest idea what happened in the ultimate battle of the war. The threat that the United States presents, even weakened as it has been by economic turmoil, however, is not one that they can underestimate, and with American production lines already turning out fighter aircraft that are a threat to the Bloc's Type 198 Fighters, the Council finds that it must act.

Two years after the initial invasion of Hayden's World, the newly reinforced Hayden Militia is in a state of stalemate with the remaining enemy forces, but neither side is content to leave things at that. The alien alliance has dispatched their varsity to clean up the resistance on Hayden while the USF has officially activated Task Force V, the latest and most advanced combat ships built by humans. In the end there are some things you decide in the skies, but some can be settled only in the mud.

Newly minted Lieutenant Sorilla Aida has a new mission and new allies, gear, and support, as she is tasked with a job that could ensure that the human race stands a chance of reaching a technical parity with the mysterious alien alliance. The war may be over, but the fighting continues as SOLCOM learns of an excursion by the Ross'El against an unaffiliated prespace civilization in the no man's land between Earth and the Alien Alliance. With always more questions than answers, SOLCOM dispatches a ship to quietly survey the situation and determine what, if any, course of action is best. Captain Sorilla Aida and her team are the ground element assigned to the task.

The coup that won traitor General Corian the Scourwind throne has been overturned, but his ongoing rebellion has left the empire divided. Jej misja może zagwarantować ludzkości szansę na zdobycie przewagi technologicznej w konflikcie z obcymi. Sojusz jednak nie czeka, aż wojna wymknie się mu spod kontroli, i w odpowiedzi podejmuje błyskawiczną kontrakcję. Czy obcych naprawdę interesują ludzie i ludzkie światy, czy może jednak gra toczy się o coś więcej?

W poszukiwaniu odpowiedzi i najlepszej metody działania SOLCOM wysyła okręt, który ma po cichu zbadać sytuację. Major Sorilla Aida i jej oddział zostają wyznaczeni do tego zadania. Wojna o Haydena się skończyła. SOLCOM i Sojusz rozpoczynają rozmowy pokojowe, ale żadna ze stron nie ma pojęcia, jak rozstrzygnęła się ostateczna bitwa w wojnie o Haydena. Dyplomatyczne niuanse nie są specjalnością major Sorilli Aidy, która dostaje zadanie: znaleźć jakąś słabość przeciwnika, dać ludziom czas, by dowiedzieli się, co się stało z Walkirią i jednocześnie mogli się upewnić, że Sojusz nie zaryzykuje kolejnego otwartego konfliktu.

Nieugięte Imperium postawiło nowopowstały Sojusz Ziemski i sprzymierzonych z nim Priminae w sytuacji bez wyjścia. Komandor Stephen Michaels i jego Archanioły kontynuują misję na terytorium wroga, podając się za najemników i piratów, by zebrać jak najwięcej informacji o imperialnym dowództwie. Dzięki swoim staraniom odkrywają ponurą prawdę. Imperialne dążenia do wojny są zakorzenione głębiej, niż ktokolwiek mógłby podejrzewać... Podczas gdy jego młody przyjaciel i protegowany wykonuje jedną misję, Eric Weston boryka się z inną.
